Mission Statement
The Great Lakes have long been an important part of
life for every state that touches the shores of these
magnificent bodies of water. The Great Lakes have
supplied us with a source of fresh drinking water, fed
our inland tributaries, and allowed freighters and ferries
to carry cargo, freight, passengers, and goods. In addition,
the Great Lakes make for marvelous swimming, diving,
boating, and many other recreational activities.
But now the Great Lakes are threatened by actions
of our own doing. In 1962, the St. Clair Channel was
deepened to allow large freighters passage. A combination
of lack of rain and erosion along the bottom has accelerated
water loss to a point far beyond what was ever imagined
when this project was undertaken. We find lake levels have
dropped 30 inches.
The purpose of this website is to get the word out. People
are seeing water levels dropping but don't know what to
do. Our goal is to first provide information of where
this water loss is coming from - the 1962 Army Corps of
Engineer dredging project - and then allow viewers the
opportunity to call upon members of congress to
look into this problem.
We want our legislative leaders to take a serious look
at this problem and start looking for real answers.
We need to start NOW. If we wait too long, we may not
have much left to save.
